Welcome to Blue Door Bicycles Crystal Palace!
We are a friendly cycle shop in Upper Norwood, South East London (SE19). You can find us at 5 and 7 Central Hill - almost opposite Gipsy Hill Police Station. Our normal opening hours are 8am – 7pm Monday – Friday and Saturday from 9am - 5.30 pm. We do not open on Sundays but on Bank Holidays we generally open 10m to 4pm (including the Jubilee holiday Monday and Tuesday).
These premises have been a bike shop since the 1920s and we are pleased to be building on a cycling heritage built up for almost 100 years at the same site! We are so enthusiastic about the heritage of this shop that we have set up a website to record its history – www.centralcycle.co.uk.
Blue Doors aims to be welcoming to both experienced cyclists and those new to cycling. Whether you’re looking for a bmx, commuting bike, road bike, mountain bike, tandem, an e-bike, or a first bike for a toddler, I hope you will find us helpful and welcoming. We also provide maintenance and repair services and stock accessories, parts and clothes. These range from the normal (boring?) necessities of inner tubes for most types of bike and even wheelbarrows through to more interesting stuff like Brooks saddles, Carradice luggage, Hope components and cyclodelic ladies clothing. We have a number of bikes for hire.
We are also running events at the shop from time to time. Keep an eye on this website, our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter to keep up to date.
We will be repeating our maintenance classes on Monday11th June and then a cycle security marking event (with the Metropolitan Police) a ’book club’ evening – dates to follow. 26th May we will celebrating the arrival of our Bamboo Bike – please contct us if you’d like a test ride.
People cycle for lots of reasons – to get to work or the shops, to get fit, to have fun and, sometimes, to win a race. We are pleased to be sponsoring Carl Ferri this season as he competes in various races and particularly in his specialty of duathlon (running and cycling). You can follow his progress on this website. (Click for Carl’s page)
We hope you will find this website useful and interesting. We aim to give some helpful pointers to potential customers with links to other people’s websites and also tips on things like security. We would also be delighted to meet you at the shop – come and say hello when you can.
